Examples of exotic pine forests
Kiwi can survive and thrive in managed plantation forests as long as a few simple precautions are taken. Managed properly, these will not disrupt how a forest is managed, nor its profitability.

Environmental code of practice

In 2007, the New Zealand Forest Owners’ Association developed an Environmental Code of Practice. You can order a copy. The code of practice, an essential tool for anyone involved in forest management, is designed to help forest managers, contractors and staff take into account the many factors which influence forest management and operations, including kiwi habitat. The code is based around 18 best practices which are structured as practical decision–making and audit tools, and supported by extensive background material.
