Mike is the society’s first general manager, a role charged with providing overall vision, direction and leadership to ensure the society achieves its conservation objectives. Among those objectives is working with other organisations to achieve common goals.
Over his professional career, Mike has worked for a number of conservation-focused agencies, including time as the first executive officer for the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust, and as executive assistant to the Minister of Conservation. In the latter role, he provided advice during the development of both the Conservation and Environment Acts, giving him a detailed knowledge of this legislation and its purpose.
As well, Mike spent 10 years on the national executive of the Public Service Association, including a term as vice president.
