You are to investigate a variety of sources to find out what makes the kiwi a unique and remarkable bird. How is the kiwi different from other birds, in New Zealand and the world?
Begin by listing the features of a bird. Use Inspiration, Word Mapper software if you have it available to you. Here's is an example

Take each feature you have identified and find out about the kiwi’s characteristics. Some are unique to the kiwi… that is there is no other bird in the world that shares that characteristic with the kiwi.

Present your findings about the unique features of the kiwi in a multimedia presentation. You could use Kidpix, PowerPoint, Hyperstudio or the slideshow in Appleworks.
Begin with an introduction describing the kiwi; the following slides are to explain the unique characteristics of the kiwi.
Use the conclusion of your presentation to convince others that the Kiwi’s unique features make it worth protecting and saving from extinction.

It is not only the physical features of the kiwi that make it a remarkable bird. There are some amazing facts about the kiwi. For example:
· Its evolution – how did the kiwi come to be?
· Its classification – is it a bird or a mammal?
Use the Bank of New Zealand Kiwi Recovery website to find out about the classification and/or evolution of the kiwi.
Present the different opinions in a fact sheet that presents the facts and different points of view.
